Local Controllers and Pressure Sensors
The WaveControl® Local Controllers and high speed pressure sensors are installed at or near predetermined sites along the pipeline (such as pumping or accounting stations, reservoir parks, cut off valves, etc). The WaveControl® Local Controllers receive pressure reading from the high speed pressure sensors and determine if the real time pressure wave profile matches the known profile (mask) representing a typical leak's pressure wave. After passing several levels of digital filters, the real time readings are compared with the mask. When the WaveControl® Local Controller declares an event it sets a time stamp from the GPS clock and sends messages to the WaveControl® Central Controller for further analysis.
The high speed pressure sensors are installed on the pipeline in pairs. Each such pair of pressure sensors forms a directional filter that is used by WaveControl® pipeline leak detection system to determine the direction of the pressure waves. Such directional filters allow filtering of pressure waves that are generated by the technological processes during regular pipeline operations. At the same time, WaveControl® pipeline leak detection system continues to correctly identify pressure waves generated by leaks within the protected sections of the pipeline.
Local Controllers can be installed stand-alone or mounted in a standard 19' wide rack.
